A Look Back: AWeber Updates to Take Your Email Marketing to the Next Level

Create remarkable experiences. It’s a common phrase you’ll hear around the AWeber office, and one of the six core values that guides everything we do.

To make that possible, we love listening to your feedback. And thinking about your feedback. And talking about your feedback. A lot.

Why? Because without your comments, it’d be impossible to create experiences that are truly remarkable.

Over the last seven months, we’ve taken that feedback to do things like redesign the look of customer accounts and integration labs sites, enhance our template gallery, add new integration partners to help you grow your email list, and provide educational materials to help you learn more about email and digital marketing.

But that’s only a glimpse into the many ways we’ve been updating our product to help you better connect with your customers and achieve your business goals.

Here are a few more biggies:

Import Subscribers without Opt-in

Adding subscribers from another email service provider? You can now upload those subscribers without having to ask them to reconfirm their subscription, so you can start sending emails with AWeber as soon as you’re ready to get moving.

Although this means confirmed opt-in is no longer required, your list does need to be permission-based and healthy in order to send emails with AWeber. In other words, all of your subscribers must elect to sign up to your email list (sorry – no paid or fake email addresses!) and you should stick to email best practices.

Send Emails with Foreign Characters and Emojis

Need to send an email to customers in a foreign language? Or are you interested in sending email messages with emojis in the subject line?

You can use unicode characters (a character set that allows you to write foreign characters, symbols and emoticons) in your emails, making it easier to create and send emails that all of your customers can understand.

This not only makes it easier for your customers who would otherwise have to translate your messages, it also shows that you value their needs.

If writing messages in a foreign language isn’t a concern for you, you may want to use unicode to add symbols ( $↞ ) and emoticons (😻 🌞) to jazz up your messages. Because who doesn’t love a cat with strange heart eyes and smiling sun?

Add Video in Emails

Video is all the craze. And if you’re not using it in your emails and marketing strategy, you could be missing out on an effective way to engage your customers.

If you want to share a video you or someone else created in an email, you can do so by adding a video element block into your message using the drag-and-drop builder.

Simply add the video element, link to a video on YouTube or Vimeo, and you’re golden.

Video Element in an Email

As you can see in the example above, it stands out much more than a simple hyperlink, which makes it a great way to increase subscriber engagement.

We love using the video element to promote our Quick Tips videos in emails! During an A/B split test we ran a few months ago, we found the email with the video element had a click-through rate nearly double the email without the video.

Do More with Your Email on the Go

It’s easier than ever to manage your email list when you’re on the go. Check out the latest updates to our two mobile apps, AWeber and Atom.

AWeber App

With the AWeber app, you can easily check stats on your broadcasts, subscriber engagement and follow up series, which means you can find out how well all of your emails are performing, whenever you want.

Atom App

No wi-fi connection? No problem! With the Atom app, you can add subscribers to your email list when you’re on the go – wherever you are. You can also take pictures from your phone and upload them to your account using the app. So if you’re at an event or want to feature a new product or offer a sneak peek to your customers, you can upload it to your AWeber photo gallery and use it in a future email.

Customize More in Your Email Messages

Your email messages are what binds your email marketing strategy together, so it’s important that you have all the tools you need to create engaging emails.

So why not jazz up your emails with animated GIFs, customized call-to-action buttons, custom code or one of over 6,000 stock images?

Did you know? Visuals are processed 60,000 times faster than text and people remember 80 percent of what they see?

Create Custom Email Templates

If you can’t find an email template in our gallery that fits your brand and you’re not sure how to create it on your own, no worries.

Simply send a request to our expert design team, and they’ll work with you to create the perfect template that suits all of your design needs. Consistent branding can go a long way for developing trust among your audience.
